Jungle safaris and wildlife in Nepal's first national park

Overview

Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the best places in Asia to see wildlife in its natural habitat. Its subtropical grasslands and riverine forest are home to one-horned rhinos, wild elephants, gharial crocodiles, and — for the fortunate few — the elusive Bengal tiger.

A visit to Chitwan pairs jeep and walking safaris with canoe rides along the Rapti River and time spent with the Tharu community, whose villages and culture are woven into the fabric of the park's surrounding lowlands.
