Alpine scenery and Tamang culture, just north of Kathmandu
The closest Himalayan trekking region to Kathmandu, Langtang offers dramatic alpine scenery without the long approach of Everest or Annapurna. The trail follows the Langtang Khola through forest and yak pasture up to Kyanjin Gompa, beneath the glaciated face of Langtang Lirung (7,227m).
The valley is home to the Tamang people, whose Buddhist heritage and warm teahouses shape the trekking experience, while a side trip to Kyanjin Ri rewards trekkers with one of the best viewpoints in the region.
